The Universitat de València is at the service of the intellectual and material development of the people, the knowledge and peace progress, in accordance with the provisions of our Statutes.

Reaffirming its institutional values, the University of Valencia, member of the alliance of European universities FORTHEM, the Xarxa Vives d'Universitats, CRUE-Spanish Universities and the European University Association, has taken a stance on all these structures in the corresponding statements condemning the military occupation of Ukraine by Russia.

The Universitat de València condemns this violation of international law, and appeals to the fraternal behaviour established in the Declaration of Human Rights, as well as to the defence of the right to liberty and people’s security.

Expressing its deepest concern for the humanitarian crisis that may arise from the actions of war, the Universitat de València calls on the international community to resolve this conflict and care for refugees in conditions of dignity.

Finally, the Universitat de València expresses its solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and especially with the twenty-six Ukrainian higher education and research institutions, as well as with the students of this nationality who are studying in Valencia.

The Principal and Executive Council members will attend the rally against the war organised by various Valencian society organisations on Saturday 26th February at 6 p.m. in the Plaza de la Virgen in Valencia. We encourage the university community to attend this rally.
